Company History and Market Position

Innosilicon was founded in 2014 and quickly became one of the main alternatives to Bitmain, focusing heavily on algorithms outside the SHA-256/Bitcoin space. Early models such as the A4 Dominator and A5 Dominator targeted the Scrypt algorithm (Litecoin, Dogecoin), while the A8 CryptoMaster brought ASIC mining to CryptoNight-based coins like Monero, a move that was controversial at the time since CryptoNight was originally designed to resist ASICs.

Innosilicon is particularly well known in the Ethash (Ethereum) mining community. The A10 ETHMaster, released in 2018, delivered around 485 MH/s and was one of the first ASICs to seriously challenge GPU mining on Ethereum, sparking heated debate in the Ethereum community about ASIC resistance (which eventually led to proposals like ProgPoW). Later models, the A10 Pro (up to 750 MH/s) and the A11 Pro (around 2,000–2,150 MH/s, released 2021), became some of the most powerful Ethash miners ever produced. When Ethereum completed The Merge to Proof-of-Stake in September 2022, these ASICs lost their primary target coin overnight; many operators pivoted them to mine Ethereum Classic (ETC) and other Ethash-based chains instead.

On the Equihash side, the A9 ZMaster (2018) was one of the first ASICs built for Zcash-family coins, again displacing GPU miners who had previously dominated that algorithm. Innosilicon also produced the F1 for Equihash 144,5 (used by Bitcoin Gold) and the D9 for the Handshake (HNS) network.

Compared to Bitmain, Innosilicon has historically had a smaller global support network and fewer certified resellers, which is one reason many owners turn to community and custom firmware to keep older units competitive.

Innosilicon Firmware

In addition to its hardware solutions, Innosilicon mining machines can also benefit from custom firmware modifications to enhance mining efficiency and profitability. Modified firmware can unlock additional performance capabilities, optimizing hash rates and energy consumption. With firmware modifications, miners can potentially increase profitability by up to 30%.

Innosilicons commitment to innovation and excellence has positioned it as a leader in the cryptocurrency mining industry. With a diverse range of high-performance mining solutions and the potential for firmware optimization, Innosilicon continues to empower miners worldwide to achieve their mining goals effectively.
